Words to Live By — Avoiding Burnout

Timeless Truth

Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out. Leviticus 6:13 NLT

Thoughtful Wisdom

If you are going through hell, keep going.”  – Winston Churchill

“Refuse to be discouraged by the many signs that planet earth is the insane asylum of the solar system.”  – Anonymous

“Man must be arched and buttressed from within, else the temple wavers to the dust.”  – Emperor Marcus Aurelius

“Christian faith is a grand cathedral, with divinely pictured windows.  Standing without, you can see no glory, nor can imagine any, but standing within every ray of light reveals a harmony of unspeakable splendors.”  – Nathaniel Hawthorne

“Let me not sink to be a clod;  Make me Thy fuel, Flame of God.”  – Amy Carmichael

Treasured Gifts

* Love’s inextinguishable flame — undimmed by trouble, illuminating our innermost being

* The privilege of living as a child of the Light

* The possibility of shining for God, even when society throws cold water on heaven’s fire

* The joy of walking with the Light of the world–enabling us to survive tough times with equanimity, sing in all circumstances, and hope for the dawn beyond the darkness of despair

Today’s Affirmation

Placing my ego on the altar, I will let ambition go up in humbling smoke, and allow self-centeredness
to be consumed by the blaze of absolute holiness. Surrendering to the holy Flame, I will dare to be God’s fuel, praying that by grace I may be “a burning and a shining light” that will never burn out.
